Did you ever walk the Kep Track from Mundaring to Northam?
If so, how did it go?

Permalink Reply by Karen Dowling on March 14, 2011 at 4:59pm Hi John,
No I haven't done it yet, waiting till cooler and decided we would bike it. That way we can see how we would walk it later.
Find water along the way and places to stop at least doing by bike we know we can do in two days. Anyway I will let you know when we do.
We are off to do C2C on the 4th April, hoping for cooler weather we did it last year Nth to Sth and it was a stinker....37 to 39 degree days. wooo it was horrid. So we are doing Sth to Nth this time and hoping it will be nice weather.
Keep in touch
Karen
Hi Karen,
Thanks for the reply. Would be intereted to know how you go on the Kep Track. To be honest had not considered the bike option!
Good luck on a cooler C2C! I completed a solo 10 day end to end, N TO S in January and loved it.
I said I would pass on this information and apology if something you already Know. At Gracetown decided to stay at the caravan park. 3Km walk from the boat ramp and in the heat of the day felt like it! At the reception, took one look at me and said "why didn't you phone for a lift"
If you are an end to ender and phone from the Kiosk by the shop / deli at Gracetown, they will come and pick you up and drop you back the next day.

Hi Karen, just signed on after a long absence from Trail Talk and just wondered how you enjoyed your stay with Beth. A friend and I did the C2C in Feb this year, Nth to Sth, in stinking hot weather, completely unsupported, no food or water drops, got lost (or should I say we were temporarily geographically challenged) a few times but finished in 8.5 days....after our first day both my achilles heels were inflamed and I really didn't think I would make it even halfway but we did and thoroughly enjoyed it. It did help booking into caravan parks in Gracetown and Hamelin Bay for half a day to recoup. Also did the Stirling Ranges and a few overnighters on the Bib track but we are looking at a coastal walk...similar to C2C and was wondering if you knew of anything. At least five days to make it worthwhile lugging along all the baggage.
cheers

Permalink Reply by Karen Dowling on October 3, 2011 at 8:28am Hi Hazel,
Oh don't tell me about the C2C have friends doing again at the end of this month. I have also done in the heat I know how bad that is. We started off with 7 girls and ended up with 3 finishing it. Anyway I find that track demanding, and not marked fantastically around places it should be, we also wandered off it at one stage. When we got to Redgate Beach there was no beach a storm was in so we had to climb over sand dunes to try and connect to track again. Nightmare. I am not a great fan of it, have done north to south and south to north didnt really enjoy either. Anyway funny you should ask about a coastal walk, I organised one last year, walked from Mandurah to Mullaloo, 4 days, we left Mandurah and walked beach to Shoalwater and stayed at a friends, also we had to organise to get picked up around Cockburn as the beach is cut off, that night we stayed at a caravan park on the the coast then we walked to Cottelsoe and stayed at backpackers which is right in town, then we walked on to Mullaloo, big days will have to tweek a bit next year so if you send me your email I will send you the IT when we do it if you and your friend want to join us. Now with the Kep track I didn't get a chance this year to do, I am training to be a guide with the Bibbulmun plus I have had so many walks on the Bib Track this year time has got away, so it will stay on the to do list. Maybe I may cycle it instead. Would love to do Stirling Ranges as well so will pick your brain on that one for sure. Okay thats about it keep in touch.
Cheers to you

Hi Karen, thanks for the info on the beach walk.....my email address is hazel2904@live.com.au if you prefer to contact me there. There is a website for the Stirling Ranges and campsites....Bluff Knoll and Toolbrunup are a must but wouldn't bother with Mt Trio....bit boring. At least five days down there to make it worthwhile....absolutely stunning views.
regards
Hazel
