Trailtalk

Western Australia's premier trails social network

I find this site a little difficult to navigate around.
I think its great and necessary, however compared to other sites I have used, I do find its a little complex to find my way around.
Not sure if anyone else feels the same.
I wont be leaving it, because I still like it.

Hi John, thanks for the feedback. I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who feels the same with suggestions for improvement. E.g. Should the 'TRAILTALK' heading in the menu above be changed to 'FORUM' - would that be more meaningful?
cheers
Linda
I think it would be a better choice of wording for those that are familiar with other forums.

The colour theme can be changed, but only on "mypage". When navigating thru the rest of the website, it reverts back to the default theme. I prefer the menu bar across the top of the screen, instead of the right hand top corner.
Its unusual to have it in the right hand top corner as compared to other sites, and feels out of place.
I think familiarity of where menus are placed as compared to other forums might be the key here.

Orange wording is a little loud and glarey. perhaps some experimentation of the wording colours to soften the impact. It can make a world of difference to the feel of the site.
Another feature you may like to consider is a list of people who are currently online looking at the site, normally at the bottom of the screen. Whos online.
Is there any way to see who is currently online?
Also the number of hits or visits a particular thread is getting, to judge how popular it is.

The more I use this site, the more I see how powerful it is.
I like being able to post up video.
Ive tried to up load a video, but I dont seem to be able to find "upload the file" button.
Im guessing this feature has been removed and you can now only link video to trailtalk.
Hi John,

Where are you trying to upload too? I will make some inquiries for you

Cheers
Mark
Just a heads up question.

Can you imbed video into a blog?

If so can someone please explain how.?

My blog skills are not there yet.
I haven't yet been too bothered by any navigation problems of this site. Its a bit like getting in a car for the first time, or even your friends car.
It does have its differences but I feel it is these aspects that give it its characteristic glow.
I believe "trail talk" and should stay...
John has some good points and I feel they are all true yet I seem to enjoy some thing a little different compared to the same run of the mill format as everything else. More of a challenge if I may say.
Just my opinion not a sledge.
Cheers
I like the leaders board.
Good stuff.
Hi John, I'm still planning on a couple of other 'tweaks' based on feedback - but have to get together with the designer to assist me - who doesn't live in Perth - so not sure when it will happen.
cheers

 Hi John

Like you I seem to have a problem with finding out how to get to the volunteers section.I'm one of the 26 listed yet cannot find how to get to the page .

Just a quick update on the menu items.

You'll notice the 'Trailtalk' heading has been changed to 'Forum' and we've renamed and moved some of the menu items to put them in a more logical order.  Moving the menu items to across the page was not an option at this stage due to the site template design.

Leaderboard feature is up and running now and you will also notice we have added a new online chat feature.  You can access it on the bottom right of your screen.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback.
