Trailtalk

Western Australia's premier trails social network

A network of mountain bike trails has been built on the land next to the Pemberton Camp School.  The trails include a skills loop for beginners, jump circuits, and a longer challenging trail with lots of technical sections.  It's really very impressive and worth checking out next time you're in Pemberton - you just need to have your own bike as there's no bike hire in the area.

This will be a great attraction for Munda Biddi riders when they pass through town.

I've ridden the trails and yes they are good. The "Relentless Blue" trails is a corker, very demanding. The beginners trail is very well done. My wife (who is a beginner) had an absolute ball riding it.

I believe the good people of Pemberton are on to something here. As I understand it there are trails planned for around the town making it a MTB Mecca.

Just watch the March flies during the warmer months. They can make things very unpleasant.

I've ridden the Pemberton Mtb Trails and have to say they are extremely rewarding once conquered!

Relentless Blue is indeed a challenge, but that's the way it was built. Anybody looking for a personal challenge or some excellent training should rush down there and go for it!

If that is not your cup of tea, then you can ride the the fun and flowy trail that has also been recently built, or if you are young at heart and / or have kids have a crack at the fantastic dirt jumps.

If you are new to the sport and still a bit shakey, don't be put off as the skills loop is a blast to ride as well!

Pemberton has something for everyone that rides a mtb bike!!

Cheers,

I am just back from a great long weekend in Pemberton where we rode these trails for the first time.

In addition to the trails mentioned above, there is now a new Cool Runnings green descent, adjacent to the Relentless Blue that is less technical but more fun for riders of all abilities. Berm after berm flow into each other. Although quite short, we found this trail comparable in quality to those that we have ridden in NZ (the mecca for mtbiking). Some pictures below.

Pemberton had Dayfdd Davis and Nick & Kelly Bowman down here last week 9.11.2011 conducting a site visit and speaking to the community about Trail Hubs.

Very positive and informative talk and and site visit. Both Nick & Dayfdd were very keen, full of advice, comments and helpful directions in building a mountain bike trail system. The framework and scope and the political implications to developing trails is all good information.
Really positive community feedback from the evening wtih people coming from Pemberton, Manjimup, Northcliffe and Bridgetown.

Want to see Dayfdd Davis's lecture and his developemnt of Coed-y-Brenin go to:

Make a cup of tea and enjoy a great talk.
