Local TrailRiders, Recreational Trailbike Riders Association, the Shire of York and the York River Conservation Society teamed up recently to plant over 3000 seedlings in 3 hours for a vegetation buffer at the York Offroad Vehicle Area.

Upgrades will be coming soon as the facility has been deemed to have regional significance (one of only 6 ORV areas in the STATE!) and one of only two areas on the Trails WA website in WA. The river is very high and its very wet at the moment which should mean a high survival rate for seedlings. It's been great to see the trees grow up with the local kids that helped plant them. It should also help minimise any Noise and Dust concerns.

Facilities include toilets, gas barbecue, covered shelter, benches, car parking area and Ute unloading bay. The area is open every day of the year except in total fire bans. Recognising the health and wellbeing outcomes as well as the tourism and economic development opportunities York council are looking to give the facility a major upgrade which may mean this becomes the benchmark for these facilities in WA. More information is available here: https://rtra.asn.au/York/

If you haven’t already go get out there and check it out. Support the regions by stopping and getting food, drinks, fuel and accommodation. Be sure to add this safe, legal ORV facility to your riding destinations – gold coin donation.
