Establishing an iconic trail is a bit of a challenge for someone who's been a desk jockey most of his life: so all advice/suggestions are most welcome! The trail is inspired by the Camino Di…Continue

Pilgrim Trail update

Well, it's been a few months when all the furious "behind the scenes action" seemed more like treading water, but when I look back we've achieved a great deal since I last posted. The two event walks for 2011 - the Camino Salvado - included the new 50kms northern section that now reduces the highway section to less than 5kms which is an enormous improvement and the walkers LOVED it! Next year we hope to include an awesome new Icon to the walk, but at this stage this is still subject to evolving…See More

Lotterys Funding

We're delighted to have received some funding to help employ a Trails Consultant to help take the Pilgrim Trail to the next level! We've also overcome a possible hitch with access out of Walyunga: its now a viable proposition via Stock Rd (in fact there is no road, but there is a trail and 3 gates to go through, but it's there and the City of Swan are being very helpful to us). So next is to consolidate: work on signage: liaise with local B&Bs for future walkers and the dream starts to take…See More

ABC TV features the Pilgrim trail

The Camino Salvado follows the Pilgrim Trail from Subiaco to New Norcia. If you missed the program you can still watch it athttp://www.abc.net.au/compass/s2848582.htmThe Pilgrim trail is still in its early stages and there is much work still to do, but getting this sort of coverage has helped us get a National reputation. ABC shows the first Camino Salvado

Last night the ABC Compass program aired its feature on the Camino Salvado which follows the Pilgrim Trail from Subiaco to New Norcia. You can download the program at http://www.abc.net.au/compass/s2848582.htmBeing biased, we thought the program excellent: it was serious with touches of humor: it show-pieced the Pilgrim trail that the Camino follows and the scenery spoke for itself. Since the show we have had 10 bookings from interstate…See More
