"Hi Jane.  The Greenstone and Routeburn tracks are fantastic with amazing vistas around every corner I did the guided walk with Ultimate Hikes staying in their lodges, no heavy pack, proper beds, all meals, beer and wine available each…"

"Hi Colin, We remember you and Kerry. We agree with you that the Cape to Cape is not an easy trek. Your bad weather day was in the same place as ours on our first attempt. There are some long distances and the weather is so changeable. But what…"

"Completed my Cape to Cape end to end after 6 and a bit days on 13th October.  I did partly to tick it off the list and get the T shirt but also to get fit, after a 2 year absence from any serious hikes, in preparation for a 6 day tramp on…"

Brisbane River Trail

When we visiting any city whether it is in Australia or anywhere in the World for that matter, we always seek out the best local walk/cycling trails. Often the best time to do these trails is early morning, when the air is cool and the day is young and full of promise. A bit corny but, that is exactly how it can feel after a brisk few kilometres followed by a skinny latte. We have certainly started our day that way in a few cities around the world, Stanley Park in Vancouver Canada, Perth’s Swan…See More

Finally finished the Cape to Cape

So now we can tick the Cape to Cape off as done from one end to the other. The Dunsborough Taxi driver dropped us off at Cape Naturaliste. On the drive we were telling her of our first experience. I think my words might have been something like ”at least we won’t be seeing you again” because this time we will be finishing the whole 135kms. How stupid did I feel when we realised we had left our walking poles back at the Dunsborough Hotel and we rang her to bring them back. But after this minor…See More

Cape to cape, the first time...

On the eve of our next adventure to do the Cape to Cape from end to end, I will tell you of our first attempt and what we learnt from it. For a significant birthday my husband requested an adventure experience. I decided we would go down to the Margaret River region, walk the Cape to Cape ending at the gorgeous Bunker Bay Resort. Mike loved the idea and away we went.…See More

"Hi Dale Call me a masochist but I do carry a lot of gear. It’s what I do as a professional photographer, I guess. My hiking gear is a Canon D40 with a 28mm to 135mm zoom, 10mm to 22mm zoom and a 75mm to 300mm zoom. I also carry a backup…"

Queen Charlotte Track, New Zealand

Hi to everyone at Trail Talk. To introduce ourselves, Mike and I were the lucky ones to get the gig to be the ‘on the ground’ assessors for the Top Trails Project. During the months of assessing we drove from Esperance to Kununurra and almost everywhere in between. In the end we walked 1461 kilometres, cycled 490 kilometres and drove 6301 kilometres of drive trails.

As you can tell, we love trails. We walked the Bibbulmun Track from end to end in 2006. Can’t believe it is that long… Continue
