The Gibb River Challenge 2010

Last month myself and a group of mates (4 riders and one supporter/driver) completed the Gibb River Challenge a socially competitive 700+ kilometre team relay event raising community awareness and money for charity. Grizzlys/Boylans trail social rides.

The SW club holds regular social rides on a monthly basis.

Blokes have their rides, and of course the ladies have their own rides.

Traditional after ride drinks at the Wild Bull Brewery which is just across the road from the trail carpark…

Boylans up trail

Expert trail designers and builders use the latest mapping techniques for a carefully planned trail that is fun for both experienced and novice riders.
International Mountain Biking Associations (IMBA) standards are used for the trail building.
Club members are well versed in IMBA standards and attend trailbuilding workshops learning from the worlds best and most experienced trail builders and advocates.…

Boylans mothers day buidling

We had over 20 people turn up for the day.

Being mothers day it was far more than expected.

Jake Hannah from WAMBA turned up with a crew from Perth to give a hand for the morning. Thanks Jake.

The trail is cleared right thru now, however some small sections still need polishing, Just bear with us for a week or two, before its completely finished and we are able to open it up properly.

Boylans up trail.

The boylan up trail is an extension and upgrade of the Grizzlys trail, making a one way loop for mountainbikers to ride.
It started in 2009 to create a safe way to ride the trails without worrying about rider conflict and coliisions.
The lennard trails network has been gaining popularity to the point of becoming dangerous.
The South West Mountain Bike club pushed for a new up trail, which DEC approved, welcoming the idea of making a safer trail…

Just added some photos - in particular look at the roo prints!

Couldnt beleive this pic after I uploaded it. The leathery surface of the kangaroo's foot appears in the mud impression on the shore of Lake Clifton.
