Queen Charlotte Track, New Zealand

Hi to everyone at Trail Talk. To introduce ourselves, Mike and I were the lucky ones to get the gig to be the ‘on the ground’ assessors for the Top Trails Project. During the months of assessing we drove from Esperance to Kununurra and almost everywhere in between. In the end we walked 1461 kilometres, cycled 490 kilometres and drove 6301 kilometres of drive trails.

As you can tell, we love trails. We walked the Bibbulmun Track from end to end in 2006. Can’t believe it is that long… Continue

Long Trail, Vermont, USA

This year had the fortune to tour Canada, Alaska and Vermont in August and September. While in Vermont we chose to do part of the Long Trail. The Long Trail is a 272 mile (438 kilometres) long walking trail through Vermont USA. It is the oldest long distance trail in the USA. It was built between 1910- 1930s. Importance of Walking

1 Walking 20 minutes can add to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.
2 My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60... Now he's 97 years old and we haven't a clue where the hell he is.
3 I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
4 I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing..
