With it pouring rain Friday morning it was looking to be an even more adventureous weekend down Northcliffe.

Picking up my 11yr old from Collie, we headed on our way. First stop was the Diamond Tree at Manji to wet to climb so we just grabbed a nearby geocache. After that it was a visit to the Cascades near Pembi, what a great place to have a look around and we were lucky to have a break min the rain.

That night while having a counter meal and a pint at the Northcliffe Hotel we decided no matter what the weather brings on Saturday we were going to set out to do everything we had planned.

After breakfast in the morning we were on our mountain bikes and heading around Round TU-IT's 6km loop of sweet single track. Kayne found it a bit hard going on the climbs, but pushed on. Although the trail was a little in need of a clean it was still great fun and had really fast descents near the end.

After the ride we got in the car and headed to the Boorara Tree, which is an old fire lookout tree that you can no longer climb. From here is the start of a 2.5km walk through the Karri to Lane Pool Falls , definately worth the walk in the rain.
Next stop was Mt Chudalup. A huge lump of granite that towers over the nearby giant tree's. This place was my sons highlight of the trip and tore up it without a blink.

By now it was well in the afternoon so we headed to the small settlement of Windy Harbour and walked along the sea cliffs of Point D'Entrecasteaux. The limestone cliffs were a great snapshot of how rough nature can be and how beautiful at the same time. Heading back towards the car we caught glimpses of several whales.

When we got back to camp it was getting close to dark. Kayne was keeping amused by all the local roo's and llama's and I jumped on the bike for one more lap of Round TU-IT, having to push hard to make it back before dark.
Sunday on the way home we grabbed some more caches near Manji and sampled some old single track in the area.
What a great way to spend a winter weekend!

Hi,

The weather has been rough again this weekend  in Northcliffe after a week of sunshine. Apart from the bad weather it looks like you both had a great time. The pub meals are always fantastic.  Love the photos.  The Boorara State Championship MTB trail down here will be having a three day clean up in the next couple of weeks. 5.7km circuit, try it out next time you come down this way. Call into the Northcliffe Visitor Centre for a map and update of track condition.

The walk at the cliff top at Windy Harbour would have to be one of the best in WA. Photographs don't show how high they really are.
